Rockstars are the new ministers?

Back then in the days, when flowers still smelt like cow s*** and leather shoes meant killing the cow that previously s*** on the flowers, people would go see the minister if they had troubles. They would go confess and then be relieved if they only had to do 4 Our Father's. Someone died and there was the dog collar filling up space, just sitting and listening if they wanted to talk. I'm not saying all of the ministers were that kind and caring, and I'm not saying that it's not like that today sometimes...I'm making generalizations here.
Today we listen to music, OUR music. From Gershwin to Parker, from Lennon to Cohen. We're in troubles we listen to music because we know how that particular song deals with this or that situation. We carry our grief about the world or personal losses to concerts and expect to be "heard" by the artist. We listen to what they have to say/sing because we know it'll soothe our longing for peace for a while.
We don't go to church anymore because it's outdated but the music changes because we want it to change. The same song can have a thousand meanings if thousand people listen to it. And it can eve have a thousand meanings if one person listens to it a thousand times.
What I'm trying to say is that music is a very spiritual thing to some people - don't destroy it.
