while I told gf to go shut her eyes for a while I'm keeping watch over Sammy who needs to be fed every two 1/2 hours because he doesn't do it himself. He doesn't because there's something not quite alright with his bowels and being a bunny this can be lethal because he needs to eat to keep his digestion going at all times.
We went to see a doctor tonight and came home around midnight and are now waiting that his state will be better.
we fed him once by now and I can't even begin to tell you what a mess it was. I had his food in my hair and in my ear and all over my clothes and everywhere else. But he ate all he got bravely, which give me hope because it shows that he is hungry but wants to eat. Good sign.
Now, he's curious again when someone comes to check on him and he seemed interested in the hay that we left him in his temp cage with. If he started eating by himself it would be the best thing that could happen. We're going to see the doctor again tomorrow morning to do another x-ray to see if the situation has improved...let's keep our fingers crossed.

can someone kick my ass please!
somehow I can't get anything done. I have less and less time to do all my work for university and yet I went to work today (on my day off!) and spent more hours there than I would on a normal work day. yay.
and now all I seem to be able to do is procrastinate.
the library seems to have swallowed my gf and I'm all alone with a bunch of mad bunnies who seem to have some conspiracy going on. every time I sit down to actually start working they do something they shouldn't. Like bail.
I love them. but today they are YOUR bunnies, McC!
I never had such a hard time getting into gear for writing a couple of stupid papers. but I feel like a neanderthal hacking at my computer perchance to make fire or something...anyone wanna write my papers?

random acts of confusion - a bunny story
bunnies are random. they hop here, they hop there, finding pleasure in whatever they come up with doing next.
our little girl bunny had the idea that her piece of bread was fun to play with (if only we had a dollar for every time we tell her not to play with her food!). so, as soon as it was small enough she took it, jumped out of the cage and didn't let go of it for another 3 minutes or so. running left, running right, enjoying the randomness of her life - with a piece of bread in her mouth. she then jumped back into the cage (having done nothing noteable with the bread, but carrying it around) where she dropped it from a platform to the ground. then she looked down, obviously confused by gravity.
a couple of seconds later she took her trophy to the tunnel where she is now sharing the bait with brother bunny...
to be continued...maybe...?.!?

last saturday
last saturday gf f with a visit to the worlds' oldest zoo. our zoo. the viennese zoo.
as a kid I used to go a lot and it was pretty cool. they have done a lot and are still doing to give these animals a good home. and one might say about wild animals in captivity, but they take good care of them.
so we had a very nice and relaxing day and I was overjoyed to have day off from life. thanks to gf for that. she even brought food and tea - very delicious.
of course we took pictures and I've uploaded them to my flickr...

bunnies, bunnies, it must be bunnies...
as requested by shazza, I tried to capture our bunnies with my camera. i failed. As soon as the lens focuses the bunny is gone. I got some of them, though and they're at my flickr.

another week
gf and I are probably equally swamped at work, equally exhausted and it shows...I fell ill completely during the weekend. but i'm fighting the bateria/virus with every med I find. and yes, shazza, gf is the best. and especially good at frightening me into doing everything to get better, because usually I'm the worst patient ever.
the good thing is that we have our bunnies since saturday and we love them and it seems they love us too. He is a bit more careful. not as trusting as she is, but he definitely likes us.
we kept calling him sam/sammy after the character fat sam in bugsy malone, which we watched the night before we got the bunnies. plus he is bigger than she is, so fat sam seemed to fit.
she's a bit more secretive about her name though. She's a little goofy and a racer, adventurous and sometimes a little wreckless even (for bunny standards). So we can't really decide on what to call her. we hope we find a name by the end of the week.
I also tried to take a couple of pictures, but as soon as we open the cage taking pictures is impossible cuz then it's playing time and not sitting still time. and through the bars of the cage...no good pix. I'll keep trying though.
and now I'll go back to work, to finish up the most important stuff and I will leave at 1 pm come hell or high water.

being sick sucks
I fell ill. headache, sore throat...
but i got some chinese herbs from my boss and everything is a lot of fun now. no, not really. but they seem to help.
and the best thing is - they're capsules not tea. which means they don't taste gross forever in my mouth.
but i still feel a little ill and I still don't wanna work but have to...
only two more days and then there's a weekend.
the bunny weekend...

help wanted!
having spent some time online trying to find input on how to name our future bunnies, I figured we might need help.
We had some ideas, but that doesn't mean we need no help.
So if you have an idea of how to call our bunnies, please feel free to help us. Popculture references are very welcome.
This is the sister bunny

en välkommen gäst
Today, gf and I welcomed our newest friend Björkudden of the Norden family of the IKEA clan.
Björkudden is a table that is so practical that I really can't explain and you have to look it up for yourself.
We are very proud to have him.
Actually we wanted to buy that table a while ago, but then decided against it and buy other stuff for the apartment.
Now that we decided to have bunnies we needed the table to make room for a cage.
We also went and enquired about what kinds of food there are and playthings and what cages they sell at the biggest pet supply chain in austria.
Now gf feels kind of pregnant and nervous, which is cute.
I'm really looking forward to it all. the new won space and the bunnies.

bed & breakfast
gf and I are, as it seems, a bed and breakfast for dogs.
usually we take care of her dog who normally lives with her parents and sometimes needs to stay with us.
this time we too care of very cute but in the middle of puberty french besset D'artagnan.
He's got it all the hush puppy eyes and feet and the same couldn't hurt a fly look. and the next minute he goes and tries to eat the furniture.
And what's most stunning about him is actually how long he is. He looks like an outstreched version of a normal size dog like my own. Very fascinating indeed. Gf kept commenting on the dog's length all weekend completely amazed by it.
We had a fun weekend though, the little one kept us on our feet. Photos can be found at my flickr.

Jippppiiiieee
I'm gonna get a rabbit. I'm gonna get a rabbit...
Finally, gf and I decided to have two cute and perfectly fuffy pets.
We didn't go buy them or the equipment yet, but we agreed on having two dwarf rabbits.
Feel free to comment on possible names. We have some ideas but input is always very nice.
Now, I've been checking the web almost all morning for hints and tips and tricks to make the little ones happy and keep them healthy. I guess, only now I realize that I REALLY wanted to have them...
I'll keep you posted on how the "rabbit hunt" is coming along. After all we wanna have two that really fit.
