After it was her fault that our fake/dream generated kids are named Rübezahl and Hotzenplotz, gf's now also responsible for my growing nostalgic procrastination attempts. She gave me this link to render me unable to get work done for University. I'm now alphabetically working through MTV's music video directory looking for old pop up videos and other stuff with nostalgic value. I'm still at A and here is my fav "A" video: Tori Amos - Strange little girl
Tori has a lot of videos I love to watch, like Spark or 1000 Oceans, Jackie's Strength and A Sorta Fairytale...so I chose Strange little girl for no apparent reason, except that I love how David Slade draws the hunter and the hunted...
Since yesterday I started and finished Secret Files, I thought about finishing up with some other games that I've started a while ago, too. Tomb Raider: Anniversary is one of them. I started playing that a couple of days after christmas 07 and I only finished today. I have played from time to time and always enjoyed it but then my focus scattered and I played other things instead. It happens. This morning I thought to myself, "I only have two and a half levels left, I'll quickly finish them up." - WRONG! There is nothing quick with Lara Croft. Even with the help of a wonderfully detailed walkthrough I wasn't proceeding as fast as I would've wanted to. But it's a Saturday, so it didn't matter.
The second to last boss battle was a slight appetizer of what was going to come in the end. My fingers started to feel a little uneasy but I thought I was almost done, why stop now.
In the end I had to play a couple of hours more, because I just couldn't beat the last enemy. It's not that I constantly died and had to restart - no, I just needed the 90 minutes (it felt like 4 hrs) to finally kill the enemy. If my fingers felt a little weak after the second to last boss, imagine how they feel right now (Not complaining, just saying). I have no idea why it took me so long because the concept wasn't that difficult: enrage, get a clear shot, damage - repeat until dead. But somehow my fingers were too tired already and any slug could've outrun my usually fast reaction. But patience was rewarded and I killed the damn thing and saved the world again :)
PS: watch the trailer for the new Lara Croft adventure - I love it!
I'll be back tomorrow with news which game rendered my fingers immobile this time...
I got myself (not saying how) the new Deep Silver game, Secret Files Puritas Cordis. It's the sequel to Secret Files Tunguska and it's a point and click adventure where you have to solve riddles. And no, it's not that easy. Last time, I had thought that I had played excessively by playing it through in a couple of days with doing other things in between, but still being through quite fast. I blamed it on the full walkthrough I had at hand...
So this time around I played 7.3 hrs - yes, you guessed right - nonstop. I only stopped to eat and pee. Don't get me wrong it's not that great a game, I just couldn't stop. I wanted to solve that riddle and then the next and then it was a change of scenery and of course I have to know what happens. I only consulted the walkthrough 3 times and I'm quite proud of myself for that... Spoler Alert: In the end the world was saved and the heroine and her ex/again bf are alive and well.
I wish you guys a great weekend. Spend your time wisely!
As you know, I got myself a snakeboard and we also plan on getting ourselves a skateboard just for fun pretty soon. I assume it'll be a lot of fun sucking at boarding together and to make the sucky part go away faster I thought some research was due. since I pick up on how to do stuff like sports pretty quickly by watching others, I figured I should check out youtube for some advice on how to skateboard. then I found this and laughed my ass off. don't get me wrong, I love myself some wonder women but...well, see for yourself:
last week I wanted to transmit an excuse note to a judge. the matter was urgent because the trial was set an hour later. I called and asked if they could tell the judge that our employee was not gonna come because he had a funeral to go to. the impolite jerk clerk on the other side of the phone line told me that they were no messenger service and that I should fax them the excuse note. I wanted to ask him if he was the messenger boy that would deliver my fax to the judge and were the difference was. I bit my tongue, thinking that I don't want him angry because it was one hour before the trial and everything sort of short notice and an angry judge is not favorable for our cause...anyway, so he give me a number to fax it to and hangs up.
I do as told and try to fax through the stupid note. and fail a couple of times. So I call again and ask him for an e-mail address instead. He tells me that they don't use e-mail and I'm like "how do you mean you don't use e-mail?" the clerk feels offended by my obvious astonishment of his technical ignorance and tells me to fax the thing and to hurry because the trial is in half an hour already. (thanks for noticing) So I go on and ask him for another fax number because this one is obviously so busy that my note can't get through. and he has the nerve to tell me that there is no other and that it was my problem if I didn't know of the funeral earlier... to make a long story short. it took ages, but i finally faxed the note...we're talking about an Austrian court house here...
fast forward to the age of technology. I haven't done it yet for this paper but I have in the past and I know how this works. I call Statistics Austria and say I need material about this and that and the person on the phone line (who is always polite and friendly) asks a bit further so s/he can help me a bit better. The person writes down my phone number, just in case. and about 15 minutes later I have an e-mail with the exact data that I need including a call back number in case I need something more or different or whatever...and all for no money at all. I could also download it from the website but I usually can't find anything there and knowing about their service I'm too lazy to do the search myself. They are obviously faster than I am...
how is it possible that two state institutions are technically apart by what seems centuries?
wow, I just watched the x-files. episode 3 of season 6 - triangle. that alone wouldn't probably be worth blogging, BUT I just watched an episode that I saw back then when they aired on TV in Germany. But I only saw fragments of it as I was doing my homework while watching. Now I know I should've been watching carefully and without so much as blinking for the 44 minutes it lasts. what makes this episode so great? I guess back then a lot of people were already talking about it but that doesn't mean that I can't be a late bloomer and start now. for starters, this episoded equals constant movement. it's shot entirely with steady cameras and the viewer might even get the expression that only two cameras were used. one for the present and one for the past. there is one scene lasting 10 minutes and a couple of seconds. at least that's what the impression is. with a bit of an effort one might be able to have a cut in between somewhere but the ordinary viewer might not notice and keep thinking that the camera is still rolling. there is a sort of "making of" where a girl from make-up explains how she had to draw a cut on someone's cheek after he had been hit so that he could appear on the screen again looking hit in the face. everything without stopping the camera. I imagine shooting like that to be very difficult and exhausting. but the outcome is amazing. This episode is not only well done in terms of shooting, pretending to not cut and lighting and stuff. it's also fun to watch. especially if you're a german speaker like myself. who wouldN'T wanna hear AD Skinner talk german or even cigarette man? It's so much fun. and who doesn't like these kisses...?!... go and download it!
i hate being spoiled. all day long I innocently surfed the web and then some jerk in the row in front of me in the computer-room opens a website and I see it. jordin sparks is the new american idol. who uses msn.com anyway? aaarrrgghhh. but it's a good thing she won. early on in the competition gf and I started "voting" for her and we were right.
I'm relieved though. I really managed to not say anything to gf about who wins...
since gf discovered the existence of x-men legends II pc game and acquired it we are both hooked on it. we sit at our dining table, facing each other hoping to survive the combat part of the game and solving the quiz part of it. it's probably fun to watch us, usually non-gamers, surprised by every turn the game takes and screaming at every enemy attack as if to scare it away. we sleep and dream about the game, we walk through life thinking about when we have time to play on again... we derived into cheap copies of 14 year olds who have their asses glued in front of the screen. finn, out.
What do you think of her? I combined everything a super hero should have. Class, style, a companion with feathers, weapons and of course superpowers. Since you can't see superpowers when a superhero isn't fighting, you just have to believe me that Desire is super strong and super clever.
